Kickass Chick Flicks is a collaboration between Producer, Mel Daly, and writer/director, Johan Bosma.

 

When Mel and Johan first sat down to discuss the genre and themes they were interested in portraying, they found that they have a common goal; to depict in a real and honest way, the inherent drama, comedy and struggles of everyday life and relationships.  In particular, they are both extremely passionate about portraying female characters who are strong, real and relatable.

 

In INK they specifically look at the relationship between a single mother and her teenage daughter within the non-stereotypical setting of a tattoo parlour.  This lets them explore a myriad of themes in a light-hearted manner; divorce, heartbreak, sexuality, parenting as a single mum and career choices.  The possibilities are endless.
